The back of the grinder mounting plate to the back of the wall mount measures 8.75" when the locking pin is in place. The back of the grinder plate to the end of the square tube measures about 8". Of course there is lots of flexibility if you want to modify or shorten the tube. The Versa-Mount Wall Mount has four jam bolts to take slop out of the receiver so the locking pin is not really necessary if you use the bolts to hold in place.
