Most people just take it out of the box and start using it! That being said there are a few things you can do to ensure getting off to a good start.
1. Double check proper blade tension - The NG120XL has s a simple clutch on the tensioning xxxx so just make sure it is tight enough that the clutch slips.
2. Break-in the blade - see the following YouTube video for help https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hq-AS...
3. Choose the proper blade for your material - if you are cutting low volumes of a variety of materials the blade that comes on the machine is fine.
4. Set the speed for the material you are cutting - there is a decal on the motor to help get you close.
5. Perform a test cut to check for straightness - if you need to adjust the guides to make a straight cut the instruction manual should help.
