The short answer is, it depends on the hole size. Here are some examples based on 1.2 tons of punching power.
1/8" hole thru 1/8" steel (11 gauge)
3/16" hole thru .075" steel (14 gauge)
1/4" hole thru .063" steel (16 gauge)
