Why is the capacity only 2". Is there something else that designates max tube OD. Or is it just max wall thickness?

The max is based on the size of the bead relative to the tube OD. The bead produced meets Milspec and SAE 5131B specs on tubes up to 2 inch OD but technically could be used on larger tubing as long as you don't exceed the wall thickness rating.
