To best answer your question, you will need to refer to our Punching Tonnage Chart. The Tin Knocker No. 18 Turret Punch is capable of 8-tons of punching power, so the largest hole it can punch depends on the material thickness and type. Basically, it can punch anything requiring less than 8 tons on this chart. For punching aluminum, it would depend on the alloy. Softer alloys of aluminum would be 1/3 to 1/2 as much tonnage as mild steel, whereas harder alloys would require 1/2 to 3/4 the tonnage. Keep in mind die clearance requirements would also change for optimal performance depending on the hardness or softness of the material.
